Matthew: “From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven Matthew, as a good Levite, avoided using the word “God” unless necessary) has been forcefully advancing and forceful men lay hold of it.”(v. 12) But does “forcefully advancing and forceful men lay hold of it” This can be seen in two ways one positive and one not so much. “… those who were ready for the King’s advent responded vigorously to the announcement and strained every muscle to enter [think Pentecost]”. Believers Bible Commentary p. 1159. The negative view would be the many persecutions the church has suffered.
