Psalm: 49

Meditation

Isaiah: We can’t be too surprised that we reconsider Isaiah at this time of the year, after all in one form or another, Isaiah considers the Messiah’s life from before His incarnation to after His resurrection. It seems clear that the LORD is fed up with Judah’s backsliding and idolatry. He threatens (or promises) to send them into exile (as He did the ten Northern Tribes) as revealed to Moses in Deuteronomy (4:25-31). That was a prophecy quite unambiguous and yet unheeded. The day was fast arriving.

Gospel: Luke 21:29-38

New Testament: 1 Thess. 5:12-28

Old Testament: Isaiah 5:13-17, 24-25
