Psalm: 54, 56

Meditation

Isaiah: The fun part of prophecy is that we read it today with a voice in our heads telling us to see it at literal – a very big mistake. The thing about this particular prophecy is that there actually are two prophecies at work here. There is what I call the “real” prophecy intended for far into the future. Reading prophecy literally is unwise because prophetic language never resembles its fulfillment. Consider Jeremiah 31:15 as related in Matthew 2:18. Doesn’t sound quite like the slaughter it was.

Gospel: Luke 22:14-30

New Testament: 2 Thess. 2:13 – 3:5

Old Testament: Isaiah 7:10-25
