Meditation

Isaiah: Isaiah is drawing for us another picture of the coming Kingdom. “The Branch of the LORD is just another title for the Messiah such as Christ or the Anointed One. The “cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night” (v. 5) hearkens to the book of Exodus as God’s chosen people were trekking through the wilderness to the Promised Land. That trip lasted (endured) 40 years and at its conclusion God was tired!
