Psalm: 102

Meditation

Luke: Jesus predicts His suffering, death, and resurrection to His disciples. The Scripture tells us they did not understand and we tend to be baffled by this. I am not so sure that we would have acted all that much differently from them. The disciples were near approaching the tragic scene about to unfold before them, perhaps too close for prophetic fulfillment: “Yes, that will happen but not now,” may have been their thinking. So the disciples could not see. Next we have Bartimaeus who is actually given his sight by Jesus. It is too bad we don’t know how much time separates the two events.

Gospel: Luke 18:31-43

New Testament: 1 Cor. 3:10-23

Old Testament: Zechariah 11:4-17
