Psalm: 106

Meditation

James: Good evangelicals always get in a dither when it comes to the question of works. Much like a Pharisee regarding the Law is the good Christian who eschews good works because he thinks he in some way grace is lessened. Not so! Many people, perhaps most, grapple in discerning the will of God. If one acts upon what he thinks is God’s will for his life, he doesn’t err. On the other hand, if the same person does nothing as a response, that is like the servant who buried his talent in the ground so as not to lose, or rather, to use it. (See Matt. 25:14-30)

Gospel: Luke 16:19-31

New Testament: James 2:14-26

Old Testament: Habakkuk 2:1-4, 9-20
