Psalm: 22

Meditation

James: I can’t write about this letter of James without reminding you that it is the handbook of Christian living. “That we might be a kind of first fruits refers to the first and best harvest crops. This feast was typically celebrated 50 days after Passover which we call Pentecost. (so, in fact, did the Jews.) First fruits also represents the promise of a bountiful harvest. “Do not merely listen to the word … do what it says.” (v. 22) Remember, it by our fruit by which we will be judged. So be fruitful.

Gospel: Luke 16:1-9

New Testament: James 1:19-27

Old Testament: Joel 2:28 – 3:8
