Memorize these verses as a family:

1 Corinthians 12:12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 

1 Corinthians 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 

Listen. These verses tell us that the church is like our body. Our bodies have different parts; each part has a special job and each part is important.  The church is the body of Christ. Each of us are parts of Christ’s body. We are all important and have a special job to help the church. The church needs each person and each person needs the church. Our special job in the church comes from the special gift God has given us (see 1 Corinthians 12:28).

Discussion. What do you think the church would be missing if we were not a part of it? (Think about what each person in the family is good at and how they could use that gift to help the church.) What do you think we would be missing if we stopped being a part of a church? 

Set Goals. Make a plan as a family to be a part of the church. How will you use your gifts, the things that you love and are good at, to help the church? How will you let the church help you grow as a follower of Jesus? Who is one person that you know that you will share this lesson with?
