Psalm: 104

Esther: Esther’s mission is to foil the evil Haman’s plan to wipe out all the Jews in the Persian Empire on the 13th day of the 12th month (Adar; February-March for us). Mordecai got wind of this plot and put Ether to work on a counter-plan. Keep in mind that King Xerxes does not know that Esther is a Jewess. She seeks to disarm any suspicion Haman may have by showing him favor. He falls for it. His head is swelling with pride because the Queen had singled him out for a banquet. He has a lapse in judgment but Haman is still annoyed that Mordecai will not “cow tow” to him.

Gospel: Luke 3:15-22

New Testament: Acts 18:12-28

Old Testament: Esther 5:1-14
