Psalm: 143

Meditation

Joshua: This chapter brings us to the close of the book of Joshua. We see that the Israelites make promises to God (which prove to be empty): “We will serve the LORD our God and obey Him.” (v. 24) Perhaps not “empty” at the time but these promises began to ring hollow within a generation – as long as Joshua lasted. That is why we say each person must have his own conversion experience – one is not born into it as the Jews had thought: “I’m all set.” ‘Fraid not.

Gospel: Matthew 27:24-31

New Testament: Romans 16:1-16

Old Testament: Joshua 24:16-33
