Memorize these two verses as a family:
Luke 11:13 “If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will you Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
Acts 2:42, 47b They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer … And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Ask: Just as trees need good soil, water and sun in order to grow, followers of Jesus need the Holy Spirit and a community (church and family) that learns the Bible together, takes care of each other, eats together and prays together in order to grow and make new followers of Jesus.
- How do we get the Holy Spirit? (Luke 11:13)
- What happened to the church in Acts 2, when they learned, prayed, and ate together, and took care of each other? (Acts 2:47)
Activity: Talk as a family about how you can learn the Bible together, pray together, eat together and take care of each other.
