Psalm: 141
Meditation
Matthew: This is an interesting parable of the 2nd coming of the Lord. Five wise virgins and five foolish ones. Let’s allow that the wise virgins represent believers in the tribulation while the foolish ones represent the unconverted church goers. The oil in this case refers to the Holy Spirit. While the wise virgins brought extra oil with them, they actually are unable to share their oil – for if the oil is the Holy Spirit – one cannot parcel Him out and about. The foolish virgins, it will turn out, won’t be able to “buy” the Holy Spirit (i.e. more oil). This is a cautionary story: always be ready for the Lord’s return.
