Psalm: 106

Meditation

Romans: If our Civil War proved anything it was that slavery was evil. It certainly was the way our ancestors practiced it. Here Paul identifies everyone as a slave. One is either a slave to sin leading to death or he is a slave of righteousness which leads to life. The slave of sin did not choose his slavery (why would he?) after all it leads to death. The slave of righteousness, on the other hand, chooses to be such a slave. And why not? It leads to life. “For the wages of sin (slavery) is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (6:23)

Gospel: Matthew 21:12-22

New Testament: Romans 6:12-23

Old Testament: Numbers 22:1-21
