Psalm: 61

Meditation

Isaiah: Isaiah is being hopeful and horrendous (terrifying) at the same time. This is judgment – “a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire.” (v. 4) Judgment and fire are both symbols of purging. Can’t purge without fire. I suppose regurgitation is a form of purging, but neither is desirable. Notice verse 5 and the smoke and fire – reminders of the Jews’ exodus from Egypt. Here the smoke and fire are protective. Remember your biblical history – it is yours as well you know.

Gospel: Matthew 8:28-34

New Testament: Ephesians 4:1-16

Old Testament: Isaiah 4:2-6
