Psalms: 138, 144

Meditation

Exodus: “I will send an angel before you…” (v. 2) It happens several times in the OT that the term “Angel of the LORD” shows up. The problem: is this “angel” a disguise God uses (as in the case of Lot while he was in Sodom, or when Hagar was driven from and by Sarah into the wilderness). As it turns out this “angel” is just that – an angel. The LORD does not want to go with the Israelites but like Abraham, Moses gets the LORD to change his mind and for the same reason: “I know you by name.” (v. 17)

Gospel: Matthew 5:17-20

New Testament: 1 Thess. 2:1-12

Old Testament: Exodus 33:1-23
