Psalm: 147

Meditation

Matthew: You have heard that old expression “It’s not the gift, it’s the thought that counts”? Well, that is rather like what Jesus is talking about: it’s not the sin, it’s the thought that counts.” We have this notion that God sees sin as we do. I think that the 10 Commandments were written in order of importance (to God) and after idolatry, everything is “small potatoes”. We may view David as a gross sinner because of his adultery with Bathsheba. Oddly enough as bad as that was, David was still a man after God’s heart. Re-read Psalm 51.

Gospel: Matthew 5:21-26

New Testament: 1 Thess. 2:13-20

Old Testament: Exodus 34:1-17
