Psalms: 3, 5

1 Thessalonians: Driven out of town (Thessalonica & Berea) by his vaunted rhetorical skill, Paul finds himself finally, after Athens, in Corinth. He is quite concerned about the Thessalonians and how they are growing in their faith. Paul’s concern had prompted him to commission Timothy to go back to Thessalonica to encourage the church there. Now Timothy is returned to encourage Paul with the news that the Thessalonians are doing well. These Thessalonians “remember” Paul, meaning “they are keeping him in mind”.

Gospel: Matthew 5:27-37

New Testament: 1 Thess. 3:1-13

Old Testament: Exodus 34:18-35
