Psalm: 37

Meditation

Matthew: This is Matthew’s account of the temptations Jesus withstood from the Devil. Satan, or the Devil, seeks to tempt Jesus to satisfy some temporary desires. He uses Scripture each time to lure Jesus into foolishness, contrariwise, Jesus uses other Scriptures to rebuff him. What we see here are but three of Jesus’ temptations. Like us, I believe Jesus was tempted every day of his earthly ministry. The Devil is an opportunist and he can’t sleep. Jesus needed to know if He could withstand temptation and so after the 40 days commanded Satan to leave Him.

Gospel: Matthew 4:1-11

New Testament:Colossians 1:24 – 2:7

Old Testament: Exodus 20:1-21
